ALOV Map/TMJava grew out of cooperative development of the TimeMap®
software with Dr Ian Johnson
and staff of the Archaeological Computing Laboratory
at the University of Sydney, Australia.
ALOV Map/TMJava was started in November 2001 as an offshoot from work on the Windows version of TimeMap (since 1999), and is based on the same Dr Johnson's original ideas as the Windows version.
A more developed version of ALOV, styled TMJava, is available from the TimeMap web site
www.timemap.net.
TMJava provides many new features including temporal filtering, advanced layer control,
rendering of TimeMap MapSpaces, and access to a central index of datasets developed
for the Electronic Cultural Atlas Initiative www.ecai.org.
